The Olympic Dream

To compete in the Olympic Games, we must not only win the Olympic Trials in January 2028, but also qualify the country with a top finish at the World Championships.

There is no second place. Olympic sailing is extremely competitive. It will take tremendous resources and hard work to reach the level we need to qualify for the Games.

Our goal is to earn the first 470 gold medal for the United States of America in over 20 years. This is a monumental task that we are uniquely qualified to accomplish.

Meet the Team

Micky Munns

Micky has been in sailboats longer than he could stand. He started sailing competitively at 14 at the King Harbor Yacht Club in Redondo Beach, CA. Since then, he has risen through the sailing world.

Micky has found success at every level of sailing. As a high schooler, he competed in two World Championships and held the Pacific Coast Champion title in both International and Club 420.

In college, he spent two years as the B division starting skipper at Boston University. One of his proudest accomplishments was sending his team to the Nationals Finals in a clutch performance in the last race of the Semifinal.

Micky is a 470 National champion with over four years of experience in the 470. He has also helped many sailors achieve impressive results as a coach.

Micky lives and breathes competitive sailing but occasionally finds time for baking and chess.

Cadance Oswald

Candance started sailing at Conanicut Yacht Club at six-years old. After joining the race team at her home club, the Palm Beach Sailing Club, she fell in love with competitive sailing.

Cadance qualifyied for the Opti Team Trials in 2020. After her Opti career ended, Cadance searched for a boat and partnership that suited her competitive drive.

Growing up with a pro sailor father and surrounded by Olympians, she knew the Games where were she wanted to be. Cadance tried many boats – 29er, Moth, and NACRA before she settled on Club 420 and was very successful. But ultimately the 470 is where she found her home.

Cadance became the 2024 470 National Champion after only a few weeks of training. She is now hyper focused on becoming a 470 Olympic Champion.

When she is not training, Cadance spends time with her family and sails distance races with friends like the Bay View Mackinaw Race.
