Consider a Donation

Olympic hopefuls in the United States are in a unique and challenging financial position:

Since the national governing body does not provide funding, Olympic athletes must fundraise 100% of their operating expenses.

So we not only spend the entire day practicing on the water and working out in the gym, but we also must send the remaining time raising money. Olympic sailing is very expensive, so this is a considerable challenge for American sailors. Between expenses for travel, international competition, equipment, and just to live, we need all the help we can get.

How You Can Support Us

For those looking to support our campaign directly, we accept tax-deductible donations through the Windmark Sailing Foundation. Windmark is a 501(c)3 that supports Olympic sailors. All donations are completely tax deductible.

We currently have three ways that a generous supporter can contribute to our Olympic campaign. We accept checks, ACH bank transfers, and PayPal.

Mail checks to:

Windmark Sailing Foundation
PO Box 638
Oyster Bay, NY 11771
Leave a note in the envelope: “For sailors like Micky & Cadance”

* Checks that have our names written on the check will not be accepted. Notes attached that only say our names will not be accepted.

ACH Bank Transfer:

TD Bank
319 Glen Head Road
Old Brookville, NY 11545
Routing Number: 026013673
Bank Account Number: 4456314809 * updated account number

If you wish to make a smaller donation, you may contribute directly to us with credit card through the PayPal donation button below. Online donations are not tax-deductible and are not matched by our foundation, but are able to be used immediately.

We recognize that check and bank transfer may be inconvenient. However, these donation methods are meant for larger donations that may be helpful for a tax write-off. All donations to Windmark are matched by 50%, and unlock more funds from our sponsors.

FAQ

Why doesn’t Windmark accept credit cards?

Windmark only has one administrator handling accounts. Credit cards with donation reconciliation, receipting, disputes, and more create a big headache for her. Since we typically deal in larger amounts, check and ACH are much easier for one person to handle.

How do we get 50% matching on our donations?

Our foundation has a generous patron who has agreed to this matching program to help sailors like us with the challenges of Olympic fundraising.

Why can’t I put your name on the check? What’s with the “sailors like” sticky note? I want the money to go to you, not someone else.

Because of IRS regulations, donated checks cannot be earmarked for one specific person or team within a foundation. Therefore, the checks simply cannot have sailors’ names on them or those checks will not be able to be deposited.
